I was joyfully jarred when I received an email that said: “Judy, I have over 80 of your Beech-Nut Artwork masters. Please contact me! No joke.” It seems that a lovely art director, named “K” rescued my original art from a dumpster. I am very thankful to her for saving my artwork and returning it to me 18 years later! I wasn’t exactly sure what I would write about the project that was the most lucrative and largest of my art career. Perhaps I did not share much about my illustrations on this project because I had not a single, good example of any of it. For many years, I either shot a slide of my artwork, or I went to a local, copy shop. If I had a special painting, it was a major expense of time and money to have a professional transparency made from my art. I can share that whenever I’m in a supermarket – I enjoy passing the shelves where I can see so many of my illustrations displayed!
In the illustration industry, the usage is very important to spell out clearly. My estimates also include a description of the illustrations requested, the client, the rights, the schedule, and payment details. I am including a look at the sketches for the apple illustration on the line of labels I did for this company. Continue reading
