#30 DRAWING LESSONS FROM MY STUDENTS

During the time that I was an illustration instructor, I became quite busy with my freelance career. It seemed like a logical idea to employ some of my students to help me when I became “overloaded.” I had worked briefly for another illustrator, so I understood the value in helping to mentor my students while at the same time benefiting from reducing any work that could be delegated.

#24 ANOTHER POST ABOUT COMPOST

When I illustrated for Supersoil, I really appreciated the art director, Dave Sanchez’s input. There were always a lot of possibilities, as evidenced by my numerous, color sketches. Instead of doing a tight, marker comp, another method I used was to photocopy a line sketch and make a lot of color studies. Continue reading

#13 BILLBOARDS & NEVER BORED

I’ve decided to categorize some of my old jobs. On this post, I am sharing the wonderful examples of seeing my work enlarged on a billboard. I remember distinctly parking and simply savoring the ability to see my work so large. I work fairly small, so you can imagine how exciting that was! Continue reading
